Hidden Serenity in Kobe | Nunobiki Waterfall: One of Japan's Three Great Waterfalls (C)

Hello, I'm Chieh, staff of Kfuna. I hope everyone is doing well recently!

The weather in Japan has been getting warmer recently, and we have just passed the season of fresh greenery, which is perfect for taking a leisurely stroll in nature and enjoying the sun.

Today, I would like to introduce a hiking trail in Kobe that is ideal for beginners or a family outing. It is located right behind Shin-Kobe Station and is called Nunobiki Waterfall. Not only is this waterfall listed as one of "Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls," but it is also recognized as one of Japan's Three Great Waterfalls!

It's truly remarkable to imagine that within a city, just a 15-minute walk from the station, you can instantly escape the bustling urban environment and enter a pure natural world. You can easily reach the waterfall area and immediately experience a sense of tranquility.
As you ascend the mountain path, you will be surrounded by lush green trees and the enchanting sound of mountain streams. When sunlight filters through the trees and illuminates the creek, the water droplets shimmer like sparkling diamonds, emitting a radiant glow.
This serene moments left a lasting impression in my heart.

During my visit, there had been heavy rain the previous day, making the waterfall appear incredibly majestic! Water rushed down from a height of 43 meters, creating a powerful and thunderous flow. Observing such a grand water in a close distance can be a bit scary (laughs). However, under normal circumstances, Nunobiki Waterfall exhibits a gentler and more serene flow.

Near the waterfall, there are also maple trees, and I am looking forward to taking a walk during the autumn foliage season.
Passing by the waterfall, I felt the refreshing mist it generated, as if my soul was being cleansed with tranquility.

In the vicinity of the waterfall, there is a century-old Tea House called Otokotaki Tea House. It is said that locals usually come here to enjoy beer or hot tofu while admiring the beautiful waterfall. Unfortunately, the tea house was closed on the day of my visit.

As I continued along the trail and climb to the highest point, there was a panoramic view of Kobe. You can take a moment to rest there and let the expansive scenery sweep away any fatigue.

If you are visiting Kobe, I highly recommend setting aside a couple of hours to take a leisurely walk at Nunobiki Waterfall. It is a wonderful place within the city where you can easily reconnect with nature and relax both your body and mind!
